The experience has been grand, however the hotel gets -5 stars, I am spending as much time elsewhere as possible.
In addition to having no water pressure, a tempermental toilet and two burnt out lights, the tv is not viewable from any angle of the room and there is a lovely view out the window of the air conditioning unit.
The lights only operate when the key is in a special receptacle on the wall: result, we lock ourselves out. There are no drawers and no shelves/flat surfaces. There is about one and a half feet between the beds and about one and a half feet between the foot of the bed and the beginning of the wall.
The staff apparently thinks that having faux marble partitions between telephones and an impressively “artistic” sandblasted floor as well as various dollar-store busts of unidentifiable persons of antiquity, a gold and black flight of stairs (first flight only) and staff who sit about surfing YouTube all day is an asset
At this present hour, it is currently 10:49p at least half of my colleagues are not quite so much as drunk, as roaring drunk. At this very instant a woman with blonde hair is standing right of me saying to her parents on the phone that she drank for four hours and implied she had a fight with another blond who she passed on the street. She also seems to be having trouble with her prepaid card.
In other news, Tesco’s has some rather nice cheesy rolls for about 40p and if you go to Kensington Station there is a rather nice little shop with longsuffering clerks and canned sodas.Did I mention that soda has sugar here? No silly anti-cuba tax, the sugar is affordable so the Brits never left it behind. Everything tastes different; even American foods. I was also highly amused to see a package of “American Hard Candies” in Tesco’s… they where sugar drops. Don’t ask me I don’t know.
And now the News
There are currently two major news stories. This is technically why I’m here.
Royal Marsden hotel has suffered a fire which destroyed the roof. All patients were evacuated to Brampton Hospital without deaths however two people had their operations aborted in process. Twenty five engines were sent to the blaze which proved difficult to combat. The fire broke out on the first. Gordon Brown visited today and praised the actions of emergency services.
Marsden Hotel is one of the worlds premier comprehensive cancer hospitals. Currently police have indicated unlawful play is not suspected.
Network Rail has announced that the West Coast route will reopen after rolling delays essential halted service within the past few days. Disruption still continues at this time. Iniquries have already been threated due to the trouble, which stemmed from repairs which did not complete when planned leaving passengers stranded.

Are you the only non-drunk in the whole of Britain?
Oh, and dad won’t tell me what acerbic is. Could you?
